How far is fashion art from home life? It's about the distance of a carpet. Recently, IKEA Home released information on eight limited edition carpets for the IKEA Art Festival in 2019. These eight limited edition carpets were designed by eight artists from all over the world, taking into account both art and life. Cooperative carpets will be sold in limited quantity at IKEA in Xuhui Mall in Shanghai and Xihongmen Mall in Beijing on April 8.
Among them, Virgil Abloh, the designer of KEEP OFF carpet, is the most famous. He is the director of Louis Vuitton men's wear art and the brand founder of OFF-WHITE, a fashion explosive machine.
Since 2014, IKEA ART EVENT has worked with contemporary artists all over the world every year. It has been five years since IKEA Art Festival cooperated with fashion designers to launch various artist residence products. It seems that IKEA is eager to change the image of traditional household merchants and find a breakthrough in innovation and art. Whether it is consumption routine or transformation and upgrading, it also depends on the acceptance of consumers.
As far as carpets are concerned, there seems to be a lot of room for discussion. At present, there does not seem to be a trend of fashion. Does there exist potential consumption space for household carpets?
Current situation of carpet industry: it is a knotty problem not to spread warmly or lightly
As a decorative household product, carpet has a huge consumer group in the world, especially in Europe and the United States and other countries. But carpeting seems to be a tangled issue in China.
According to the "Research Report on Market Potential and Investment Attraction of China Carpet Industry 2018-2024" published by Zhiyan Consulting, the United States, Britain, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium and other countries are the main producers and consumers of carpets in the world. Their carpet consumers are mainly families, such as American household carpets account for more than 60% of the total carpet sales in the country. In China, the proportion of domestic carpet market is very small, accounting for only 8.25%.
From various social networking sites, carpeting has become a tangled issue. Carpet decoration effect is good, loved by many literary and artistic pursuers, but there are many drawbacks: first, the carpet maintenance is troublesome, cleaning requires professional equipment; second, the north is windy and sandy, easy to accumulate dust, while in the humid areas of the south, carpets are easy to grow insects and bacteria; third, habitual problems, if guests come to the party, easy to dirty the carpet.
In addition, carpets are usually considered as "luxury goods", and carpets with better materials are relatively expensive.
